A brass mounted mahogany cased watch with verge movement signed David Murray of Edinburgh and numbered 28, the white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals, the case engraved Inverness and Thurso number 35

The watch is believed to have been carried by the coachman on the last stagecoach between Thurso and Inverness, the vendor's family had a staging post at Dunbeath in Caithness and were also coachmen. This watch has come down through the family by decent to the present owner, it is believed that the last coach ran in the late 1870's when the railway to Thurso and Wick was opened
