A fine Victorian fly-dresser's box of oblong form, covered with tooled green leather, the hinged lid bearing a shield-shaped plaque and inscribed 'Henry Hardman', with hinged flap to the underside enclosing lengths of gut and numerous tufts of dyed seal fur, the compartmented half-lined base with lift-out tray, containing further tufts of dyed seal fur, coloured wools, blued steel hooks, loose feathers and other accessories and also containing numerous envelopes of feathers and hackles, delicately painted in watercolour with representations of the feathers contained therein, 14½in. wide.

The vendor of this lot is a direct descendant of Henry Hardman whose portrait is in his possession. The purchaser of this lot would be allowed to take a photograph of this portrait, if desired.
