Tokyo, Great Japan, Roman hour numerals, subsidiary seconds and up-and-down dials, black painted hands, gilded plates with Seiko logo, numbered V-489, the fourth wheel arbor with supplementary 'half second make/break' electric contact wheel operating pivoted locking pallet, Earnshaw escapement, Guillaume integral balance with four circular heat compensation weights, flat strip steel detent to side of banking block, jewelled locking stone and depth adjusting screw at outer end, polished steel helical balance spring, brass bowl, gimballed in plain three-tier Japanese oak box, the bottomsection with metal disc inscribed V-489, external brass drop handles and electric lead socket

Lot Essay

The layout of this chronometer very closely resembles the Ulysse Nardin type 10150 two-day marine chronometer. This chronometer was probably made in the 1930s.
