A Scottish plain heart-shaped lukenbooth brooch with crown surmount, the reverse with inscription and initials J.M.T., dated 1736.
J.M.T. for Janet Murray Threipland, born 1715, daughter of Sir David Murray Threipland of Fingask and probably given on the occasion of her 21st Birthday. The inscription refers to Ruth Chapter and Verse 16 'En treat me not to leave thee, but to follow after the, etc'.
