the case with bird and floral marquetry to the front and sides, the plinth on bun feet and centred with a marquetry panel inlaid with candelabra garlanded with fruit and centred by a lyre, the sides with flower-laden jardinère, lenticle to the rectangular trunk door inlaid with baskets of flowers attended by birds, similar panels to the sides with winged figures, the hood with brass-capped columns and later frieze fret beneath the caddy top with turned-wood urn finials, the 12in. sq. dial signed Isaac Hasius. Haerlem on the brass Roman and Arabic chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, the matted centre with ringed winding holes, subsidiarys seconds ring and central alarm disc, decorated calendar apertures above VI indicating the day, date and phases of the moon, seasonal spandrels within a foliate engraved border, the five pillar movement with anchor escapement and with Dutch strike and alarm on two bells
