The Ross Coach, a late Victorian four-in-hand coach by Holland and Holland of London, the shaped box painted with the Robertson Aikman crests fitted with a glazed door to either side and enclosing a contemporary upholstered and carpeted interior, surmounted on either side by a platform with two sets of bench seats, the red-painted frame on spoked wheels, circa 1880, 154ins (391cms) long, 96ins (244cms) high, 73ins (185.5cms) wide
This coach was manufactured by Holland and Holland of London for Co. T.S.G.H. Robertson Aikman, a founder member of the Lanarkshire Four-in-Hand Club, whose first inaugural meeting was on the 24th August 1887. A later meeting of the club at Hamilton Palace in 1889 is illustrated opposite with the present owner's grandfather.........
