Lot Essay

On the 25th May 1933 Wales played their first-ever International football match against foreign opposition. This match against France took place in Paris and ended in a 1-1 draw.
Each Welsh player who took part in the match was presented with a smaller version of the above plaque. Therefore, it would seem probable that the above plaque was either presented to The President of the Welsh F.A., or the Captain of the participating side.
Abel Lafleur is probably best remembered as the sculptor of the original World Cup, The Jules Rimet Trophy
