Lot Essay

The pierced work and fine casting, chasing and engraving on the pandan and tray is of the finest quality from the Kutch region. Most gold objects owned and subsequently sold by important households were melted down; to find a set intact is very rare.

Scratch marks on the base of both items suggest the obliteration of a previous owners name.
