Hannomag were produced in Hanover-Linden from 1924 to 1939. Before this the company built locomotives and lorries and after their stint producing cars they returned to building lorries. The first private car appeared from this company in 1924 and was the 2/10PS two-seater model, commonly known in Germany as the Kommisbrot or Army Loaf, due to its unusual shape. It was very much built to a cost, catering for the small cheap mass-market, and was advertised as 'cheaper than a 3rd class railway ticket'! The design was also quite unconventional; the narrow track eliminated the need for any differential, while the unique, all enveloping body enabled two people to sit side by side. The single OHV 499cc engine is mounted in the rear, the axle being driven by a chain.

This example was driven to the UK in 1974 by two remarkably large Germans dressed in traditional costume! It was then fully restored from the chassis upwards, since which time it has been a popular and intriguing exhibit in a motoring museum. It is said to be in running order and is extremly rare in the UK and guaranteed to cause a stir wherever it is driven.
