1933 MORRIS OXFORD
Registration No. VV 1800
Chassis No. 29252
Engine No. 1024
Green with brown leather interior. Right hand drive.
A significant phase in Morris development was the introduction of the neat overhead camshaft Minor in 1928. This was the starting point of a whole new family of models, and in its standard and family versions the 8hp Minor, together with its derivative the Ten, were best sellers.
The company however maintained an interest in large cars with variations of the Oxford, Major and Isis. The Oxford engine was a large six cylinder overhead valve unit of 3,486cc, giving the car a top speed approaching 70mph.
This particular Oxford has had just three owners from new. A rather unusual feature is that it has twin spare wheels, one mounted on either side of the car, which is believed to be standard on the export model. It is described as sound and original throughout and all the interior upholstery is the original brown leather, again described as being in good condition, although the headlining does require a little attention. It comes with its original style log books and the car is described as in running order, although the green paintwork is rather faded with age.
