The reeded shaft with Corinthian capital surmounted by gadrooned finials and a part-gadrooned oil bowl with adjusting levers, above a square base with fruiting laurel-wreaths to each side and on a stepped square plinth with scrolling claw feet, the underside stamped L480 and the oil containers stamped and inscribed MESSENGER'S RD 97643 and WILLIAMS & BACH NEW BOND ST. LONDON 92
