Crossbanded overall in rosewood and inlaid with boxwood lines, the moulded cornice above a panelled frieze painted with husk-trailed central rosette on a mahogany ground, above a pair of astragally-glazed doors enclosing a part green silk-lined interior with three adjustable shelves, the base section with moulded top above a secretaire drawer simulated as two graduated drawers and enclosing a fitted interior with green baize-lined writing-surface, eight drawers and four pigeon-holes flanking a door later inlaid with a shell, above three further long graduated drawers, a waved apron and splayed feet, with chalk inscription to the reverse BMM57
