1653 (11 June) entire letter from General Fleetwood, C-in-C in Ireland, at Dublin to the "Lord President & ye rest of ye Councill of State of Whitehall" stating that he had ordered the fleet, then in harbout at Chester and Liverpool, to sea to clear the "pirates" from the northern coasts. A fine historical letter addressed and directed "for ye service of ye Commonwealth", the top left corner slightly etched by ink but attractive, complete wax seal: ex. Gerald Wellburn collection
