Lot Essay

Robert Menzies married Lady Mary Stewart, eldest daughter of James, Earl of Bute, sister of the First Lord of the Treasury and the Lord Privy Seal of Scotland. They had no children and the baronetcy was inherited by the family of the 1st Baronet's second son.

Medina was principally known as a copyist: portraits after Ramsay, signed and dated 'Medina 1761', are at Dalziel, with further copies at Colstoun; other portraits after Jeremiah Davison of Duncan Forbes of Culloden, painted in 1765, are at Dunvegan, as well as copies after Aikman and Ramsay of the 2nd and 3rd Dukes of Argyll
