A MATCHED PAIR OF CHINESE 'MIRROR BLACK' AND GILT GLOBULAR BOTTLE VASES
Kangxi (1662-1722)
Supported on circular footrims and with cylindrical necks, each gilt with three large quatrefoil panels of songbirds and butterflies swooping and hovering above and beside flowering branches of asters, chrysanthemum and tree peony reserved on gilt grounds executed in reverse technique with a formal design of blossoming lotus between lappets and diaper-pattern bands fringed with ruyi on the necks fitted as lamps, with removeable fitment, on giltwood bases and pleated silk shades
