A PAIR OF GEORGE III IRISH SILVER SAUCE TUREENS
DUBLIN, 1792, MAKER'S MARK PROBABLY THAT OF THOMAS JONES
Boat-shaped and on spreading oval foot, with two reeded loop handles and with detachable domed covers with vase-shaped finial, the tureens engraved with a coat-of-arms and the covers with a crest, marked on feet and covers - 9¾in. (25cm.) wide

The arms are those of Blayney for Andrew Thomas, 11th Baron Blayney (1770-1834), who had succeeded to the Barony on the death of his brother in 1784. He later married Lady Mabella Alexander, daughter of James, 1st Earl of Caledon, in 1796. Their only son, Cadwallader, died unmaried in 1874 when the title became extinct. (2)
