British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1913: Typescript letter signed ('Edward R.G.R. Evans') to The Welsh Tinplate & Metal Stamping Co., Limited of Llanelly [sic.], on B.A.E. 'Terra Nova' R.Y.S. headed paper, 'Antarctic. 31. January 1913', 1 page, 8vo, offering a testimonial to 'the various cooking utensils, etc., supplied by your firm' which had 'withstood very severe tests, severe in all weathers both ashore and afloat. The goods, therefore, must be of the highest quality and of great durability. Kindly send your representative to Cardiff on the arrival of the "Terra Nova" to select any pieces you may require for exhibition'.

Written by Evans on board the Terra Nova as she made her way north to New Zealand, bringing the news of the death of Scott and his companions. With the finding of the Polar party on 11 November 1912 Evans, as next in command, took over as leader of the expedition.
