Macklin's clarifications and expansions on the Endurance expedition. In reply to Lansing's fulsome letters Macklin supplies information about conditions after the sinking of the Endurance, and especially on the expedition's dogs, the firearms and the animosity between the men; a worried letter of June 1961 enquires as to the fate of the diaries and documents he has lent Lansing.
