Of oval bombé form, the exterior to the cover painted with a bust of Athena on a plinth, the interior with a warrior with a plumed helmet within an ogival cartouche on a gilt ground, the exterior with chinoiserie figures on a terrace, taking tea, with a child and before a brazier, the underside with green mosaic within a Böttger lustre band, the interior richly gilt, contemporary gold mount (slight rubbing to base and either side), blue K.P.M. above crossed swords mark visible through the gilding
