A PAIR OF MEISSEN CHINOISERIE TEABOWLS AND SAUCERS
Circa 1735

Painted in the manner of C.F. Herold with Oriental figures at discussion, taking tea, preparing food and playing with birds and animals beside furniture, fences, plants and shrubs, one saucer with an artist painting a gilt chinoiserie scene on a Böttger lustre scroll, within double iron-red line circular cartouches between gilt line rims, the borders to the saucers and the interior to the teabowls with indianische Blumen (one saucer with chip to underside of rim, one teabowl with minor flaking to green enamel), blue crossed swords marks (2)
