This work is a preparatory drawing for Danae from circa 1907/08, now in the Dichand Collection, Vienna. Laura Arici writes of this painting, "Schlafend und passiv, als ovales offenes und doch geschlossenes Ornament bindet sie sich wiederum in zauberhafte Ornamente ein. Sie ist ganz Form, und als solche stilisiert Klimt sie zu einem seiner vielen Signete. Als solch abstrakt ornamentalisierte Gestalt ist die Frau im Körper abwesend.
