A QAJAR WALRUS-IVORY HILTED DAGGER (JAMBIYA)
PERSIA, DATED AH 1263/1846-7 AD
With curving double-edged ridged blade of watered steel, the slightly waisted oval section grip carved on one side with an enthroned ruler flanked by seated counsellors and warriors, floral spandrels above, an inscription panel below, the reverse similarly carved with a couple flanked by attandants, similar spandrels and inscription, the wooden sheath covered with original metal-thread textile woven with floral sprays, tinned copper terminal, silver attachment loop on reverse, superficial damages
