A SYRIAN TURQUOISE GLAZED VASE
CIRCA 9TH CENTURY
With rounded body, sloping shoulder, cylindrical neck and sloping rim, three handles with applied thumbpieces connecting the shoulder and neck, the body applied with a band of simple raised bosses around the shoulder, three similar bosses on the neck, the shoulder and mouth also incised with simple plain and wavy lines, the whole covered with a well preserved rich turquoise glaze (excellent condition, very slight iridescence)
