Of irregular outline, the obverse with a fragmentary kufic inscription with verses from the Qur'an within a panel with curved top, the reverse with an arched panel containing five lines of thuluth, a mosque lamp above
reverse text 11½ x 10in. (29 x 24cm.); stone 18 x 12in. (46 x 31cm.)

Lot Essay

The inscription on the reverse records the name of the deceased as Miryam daughter of ? al-Din Ahmad b. Muhammad known as 'the sufi'. The date of death is not given.
