FINELY BOUND BY STAGGEMEIER & WELCHER (with their ticket in volume I) in green straight-grained morocco gilt, covers with ruled and roll-tooled decorative border, spine in seven compartments with double raised bands, red and balck morocco lettering-pieces, the remaining compartments with decorative designs incorporating tan morocco onlays, g.e. Provenance: PRINCE SERGEI MIKHAILOVICH GOLITSYN (1774-1859, armorial bookplate 'Bibliotheque Golitzin' in vol.I)
UNIQUE LARGE PAPER COPY IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION, WITH A FINE CONTEMPORARY BINDING, FROM THE LIBRARY OF PRINCE GOLITSYN. The plates are one of apparently only 25 sets on large paper, watermarked J.Whatman, printed in reverse (including lettering and numbering). Thay are finely coloured and with a softer finish than those of the original edition. Bound with the earlier text, neatly inlaid to size on paper watermarked T.Valance, including titles and prelims, lists of subscribers in vol.I and french text to Gleanings. Cf.
