Flattened bulbous form with short neck, decorated with rich thick creamy white glaze and with a swirl of high glazed brown on both sides, underside with affixed Japanese paper label with ink number 26, printed paper label Made in Japan, body with red paper price label.

Lot Essay

Purchased by the present owner, himself a potter, from the London venue of the exhibition. The photograph reproduced above shows Hamada discussing the present pot with the Japanese Ambassador and his wife in London at the opening of that exhibition.
