The drawing for this window entitled 'Komposite VI 1917', a gouache on paper (74cm. x 31cm.), was bought from the collection of the artist's widow, Nelly van Doesburg and passed to the Marmont Collection, Winetka, Illinois, and is reproduced in the Dictionary of Modern Painting, (Methuen, London, ills. p.100). With the permission of Mrs. van Doesburg, the window was realised exactly according to the artist's intentions by the Atelier Bogtman, Haarlam, Holland.
The present window was on loan to the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, from the Foundation Buyka (conservator Bijenkorf Beheer), until 1985. It was exhibited in the Survey Exhibition of Theo van Doesburg organised by the Van Abbe Museum, Eindhoven (13 December 1916 - 26 January 1969). This exhibition then travelled to The Haags Gemeentemuseum in The Hague (7 February - 2 March 1969); The Kunsthalle, Nuremburg, (9 August - 7 September 1969)
