Mrs. Braddyll or Bradyll, the wife of Colonel Braddyll, also appears in a miniature group portrait of Downman with her three daughters, listed under the year 1805 (4th series, vol. III; see G.C. Williamson, John Downman, A.R.A; 1907, p.lix, no. 12); the work itself, signed and dated 1805, was sold at Sotheby's, 9 March 1989, lot 39, illustrated in colour. Numbers 13,14 and 15 in the same list are studies of the three daughters 'for the group' while number 1 is 'Mr Braddyll of Lancashire, 1785' shown in uniform. The sitter in this miniature looks to be the same age or slightly older than in the group of 1805.
