Lot Essay

Major-General Ferguson (1773-1841) entered the army at the age of seventeen and served in Flanders, India, South Africa and Spain. He was M.P. for Kirkaldy 1806-30 and then for Nottingham until his death. He became Major-General in 1808 and Lieutenant-General in 1813. He was appointed to the honorary position of Colonel of the Sicilian Regiment from 1809 to 1816.
