Lot Essay

An old type-written note signed by the late owner and sold with this lot reads: 'Wildfowl Gun by Wilkinson. Originally the property of Sir Shafto Adair of Flixton Hall. Suffolk.', and in the late owner's hand 'I purchased this directly from Sir Allan Adair. It was in his gun cabinet at Flixton Hall. c.1950', and 'shot a wood-pigeon in narrow wood facing Bishopstrow House c.1970.'
