AN UNUSUAL CASED FRENCH 22-BORE D.B. FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN

With blued two-stage barrels each with two punched and gilt bands at the muzzle and breech, silver fore-sight within a gilt sunburst, and signed in full in gold letters on the rib, the breeches each with punched and gilt decoration including a martial trophy, and each with gold-lined stamp of Jean Leclerc of Paris (Neue Støckel 182), and gold-lined touch-holes, engraved grooved tang, signed rounded locks each with engraved tail and gold-lined pan, figured walnut half-stock (perhaps replaced during the gun's working life) carved with rococo flowers and scrolls in relief, chiselled engraved iron mounts, iron sling swivels, and original iron-mounted ramrod, the barrels with nearly all their original finish: in lined and fitted iron-mounted case covered in tooled leather with a pair of shorter interchangeable barrels en suite, and accessories including later turnscrew, the lid with raised iron carrying handle
