A 16-BORE FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN

BY H.W. MORTIMER, LONDON, GUN MAKER TO HIS MAJESTY, CIRCA 1785

With signed two-stage rebrowned twist barrel, silver spider fore-sight and gold-lined touch-hole, case-hardened tang engraved with a bird, signed flat case-hardened lock engraved with a pointer in a landscape on the tail, and with roller and raised pan, the inside with pierced and engraved bridle, and much original blued finish, figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip and fore-end, engraved iron mounts retaining traces of original blue, the trigger-guard finial in the form of a hen with her chicks, horn fore-end cap, iron barrel-bolt escutcheons, and original horn-tipped ramrod with worm, London proof marks
