AN 18-BORE FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN

With two-stage barrel, turned girdle, silver spider fore-sight, and gold-lined touch-hole, the breech signed in a ribbon, engraved grooved tang, signed flat bevelled lock with roller (of circa 1780) and stepped tail, figured walnut full stock carved with a shell in relief behind the barrel tang, iron mounts engraved with rococo shells and scrollwork, solid side-plate, trigger-guard with first pattern acorn finial, engraved iron ramrod-pipes, and horn-tipped ramrod with worm, London proof marks with Griffin's own griffin mark
