A FINE CASED PAIR OF 36-BORE FLINTLOCK DUELLING PISTOLS

With rebrowned twist sighted barrels signed in gold, case-hardened recessed patent breeches each inlaid with gold thunder-clouds and with gold line and platinum-lined touch-holes, finely engraved case-hardened tangs each incorporating a back-sight, signed engraved case-hardened detented locks each with rounded stepped tail, safety-catch, roller, rainproof pan, and shaped pierced cock, figured walnut half-stocks, chequered flattened butts, finely engraved blued iron mounts including spurred pommel, silver escutcheons engraved with a crest, a rampant demi-lion sinister, silver fore-end caps and barrel-bolt escutcheons, original horn-tipped ramrods, and most of their original finish: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories including brass three-way flask engraved with the same crest as the pistols, the lid with trade label for circa 1816-35, the exterior with flush-fitting carrying handle, and circular escutcheon engraved with the same crest
