Lot Essay

Glass vessels of two coloured glass metals are rare. The use of a two part mould was the technique usually employed. There is in the British Museum a bottle with globular body, foot ring and tall cylindrical neck. The lower half of the body is of colourless glass moulded with a row of rosettes. The upper half of the body moulded with raised discs and the tubular neck are both of cobalt-blue glass. Another example of this technique was found at Afrasiyab (Samarkand)
