The blade iorimune, katakiriba, honzukuri with slight curve, large point (o-gissaki), tightly forged itame with considerable masame hada, tempered edge notare with some toran (waves) in the monouchi area, with a small kaen boshi, with a well carved fudo riding a dragon and long gomabashi on the omote, tang with two holes, with signature Sagami no kuni jyunin Sadamune, in shirasaya

Lot Essay

The blade appears to be a faithful copy of the celebrated swordsmith, Sadamune of Sagami who was known to have made blades of this type. The horimono is in the style of those appearing on blades by Gassan Sadakazu and there are opinions that this blade may be his work.
