Ashridge Park, Great Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire, was originally the earliest English College Bonshommes, founded by Henry III's nephew, Edmund, Earl of Cornwall, in 1276. It remained in royal hands until 1604 when the house passed to Sir Thomas Egerton, and stayed with the family until the building of the present mansion. James Wyatt redesigned the house in the Gothic style in 1808.
