INDENTBrigadier General Haydon d'Aubrey Potenger Taylor, C.M.G. (1860-1939), entered the Gloucestershire Regiment as Ensign from the Militia, 1880; Captain 1885; Adjutant, 1st. Battalion, 1885-90 and 3rd. Battalion, 1891-96; Major 1896; served in the South African War, 1900-1902 and was present during operations in the Orange River Colony and Cape Colony; took part in the action at Kheis and was later appointed to command a mobile column, 1901; commanded 2nd. Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment, 1906-10; Brevet Colonel 1909; retired 1910 but served during the Great War (Mentioned in Despatches three times; C.M.G. 1.1.1917; Order of the Crown).
