Lot Essay

A pair of sconces of very similar model are in the Irwin Untermyer Collection at the Metropolitan Museum, New York. They are illustrated in Y. Hackenbroch et al., English Furniture... in the Irwin Untermyer Collection, London, 1958, p. 154, fig. 185. They have a band of blue glass radiating from the candle-socket base and are also illustrated in G. Wills, English Looking-Glasses, London, 1965, p. 112, pl. 120
