A CHARLES II RED AND GILT-JAPANNED CABINET ON A SILVERED STAND

Mounted overall with foliate gilt-brass lockplates and hinges, decorated with chinoiserie figures, birds, trees and buildings, the top, front and sides with a stylised leaf border, the rectangular top above a pair of doors enclosing ten variously-sized drawers, the silvered stand with a foliate top edge and pierced foliate apron centred by a basket of flowers supported by winged putti, on double cabriole legs carved with flowerheads and foliage, and on scroll feet, the stand re-silvered, traces of gilding, restorations to the lacquer

the stand: 25½in. (65cm.) wide; 49¼in. (125cm.) high; 16in. (40.5cm.) deep
