Lot Essay

A pair of closely related flower pieces, of similar size, is in the Masaveu Collection (exhibited at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias, Obras Maestras de la Colección Masaveu, Nov.-Dec.1988, pp.80-1, nos.23-4, both illustrated in colour). In one of these is depicted the other side of the same urn, with its snake handle and herm below the spout, on an identical stand, while the other shows the same side of an urn identical except for a relief of putti sculpted on the belly
