With two hinged doors opening to reveal Amida Buddha flanked by the bodhisattvas Kannon and Seishi carved in high relief, the central figure seated on a pedestal beneath a canopy hung with bells, the attendants standing on lotus pedestals, the background painted green and the details of the figures gold, the exterior of the shrine decorated with lotus flowers and long-tailed birds in gold, silver and red lacquer with kirigane details on a nashij ground, the metal hinges carved as butterflies
