A Reticulated Earthenware Incense Burner (Koro)
Meiji Period (late 19th century), with gilt mark Kinkozan zo
With pierced openwork sides and top and painted in polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear crackled glaze with shaped panels of beauties, flowers and landscapes around the shoulders on a millefleur ground, with Chinese lion-head handles moulded in high-relief bordered by panels of children in garden settings, the rim of the cover painted with a band of flower heads and the underside of the body with foliate scroll; set on three low feet decorated with scrolling vines
