Lot Essay

This whirling dervish koro decorated with a celadon glaze is one of Minegishi's finest works. With the minaret-form stopper removed it functions as an incense burner. Minegishi excels in decorative techniques of fluting (shinogi) and layered craquelure (kan'yu).

Minegishi has had successful exhibitions in Mashiko and at Mitsukoshi Department Store, Nihonbashi, Tokyo. His kiln, Fuso-gama ("walking and creating") is in Nasucho, Nasu County, Tochigi Prefecture.
