Similar designs of incised parrots can be found on the famous celadon wares produced in China at the Yue kilns in Zhejiang province, such as the 10th century ewer in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, illustrated by Tang Pottery and Porcelain (Tokyo, 1988) pl. 14. Either by diplomatic gift or through export, Yue wares made their way to the Korean peninsula and to the court, where they were greatly admired and emulated.
