Echézeaux--Vintage 1997
Côte de Nuit, Bocquenet
"Bocquenet's dark ruby, colored 1997 Echezeaux is more reminiscent of a Châteauneuf du Pape from Henri Bonneau than a wine from the Côte d'Or. Harvested at a whopping 13.7 natural potential alcohol, it exhibits a blackberry, pepper, garrigue, and Asian spice-laden nose. This super-ripe, expansive broad, deep, and powerful wine has the sur-maturité tar, licorice, cassis, and warmth one frequently encounters in the southern Rhone, and ever so rarely in the northern climates of Burgundy." Pierre-Antoine Rovani, The Wine Advocate, Issue 125, 10/30/99
