CAIN

Pursuing a dream to plant the five famous Bordeaux varietals and establish a namesake winery Jerry and Joyce Cain, in 1980, did just that and spared no expense in doing so. The steep, terraced vineyard they developed at the top of Spring Mountain in Napa Valley yielded an astonishing view overlooking St. Helena. In the 1985 vintage the winery created their signature wine, Cain Five. The 1990 vintage is notable for both the debut of the pentagonal label and Cain's first wholly estate harvest. The composition of Cain Five is mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. In 1996 Cain created a unique offering- a reverse blend of the Cain Five. Offered only once before, this wine debuted in 1997's Premiere Napa Valley Inaugural Auction.
