Lot Essay

The Ponte Milvio was built in 109 BC and remodelled in 15th century by Nicholas V who added towers. It was restored in 1805 by Pius VII who commissioned a triumphal arch to be built. It was blown up by Garibaldi in 1849, but again restored, this time in 1850 by Pius IX.
