Not noted in gold by the authors of M.I. although listed by Woolf in this metal. Another specimen was offered at Sotheby's 9 March 1989 (L._204), where it was noted as unrecorded in gold.
Offered with an old typed note stating "Presented by the Old Pretender to Robert Irwin of Mount Irwin 1730 (3rd son of my g.g.g.grandfather)" and a photocopy of a letter from Sir Kenneth Crossley, dated 27 October 1957, which reads '... a little gold snuff-box given by the Old Pretender to an ancestor of mine, Dr. Irwin, who was his doctor in Ireland and looked after him and Clementina."
