The arms are those of John Stuart, 4th Earl and 1st Marquess of Bute, born 30 June 1744, created Baron Cardiff on 20 May 1776, and advanced to the Marquessate of Bute on 27th February, 1796. He died in Geneva on 16th November, 1814.
